Fast Singhs is really a wise little surprise package. It is a cheerful film which makes you smile using its subtle humor, its repartee-filled script, its deftness at handling the many associations and it is carefully-nuanced performances. Leading this pack of oddballs is Russell Peters who packs a punch because the offensive, talking Punjabi groom who not just wants the appropriate Punjabi girl as his bride-to-be but additionally her dad’s business which could just be handed to the hockey enthusiast nephew, Rajveer.
Rajveer, on his part, is every bit charming because the die-hard hockey player who smiles his way through all of the lows rather than manages to lose focus, not really when his father throws him away from home. But a lot more than the performances — and also the hockey matches — it’s the sundry associations that make up the core from the film. Rajveer’s unflinching bond together with his family, his tentative romance with law student Camille Bell, his levels and lows with coach Winters, his camaraderie together with his team mates and the love-hate relationship with bro-in-law Russell Peters alllow for some compelling viewing. A bit more spice and edge towards the delineation of the overall game itself might have made the film an action-packed adventure too. Nonetheless, Fast Singhs, having a guest appearance by Akshay Kumar (as themself), is definitely an entertaining watch. Its nothing special relating to this movie but nonetheless…It keeps smiles in your faces as you’re watching it….
